Banif buys Global Seguros insurer for €117m

Listed Portuguese bank Banif has bought Global Seguros, the Portuguese operation of CNP Assurances, the French insurance group, for €117 million, Banif was quoted as saying by the Lusa News Agency.

Banif said in regulatory filing to the CMVM Portuguese Securities Commission its subsidiary, Rentipar Seguros, has acquired an 83.52% stake in Global – Companhia de Seguros an 83.57% in Global Vida – Companhia de Seguros de Vida. Banif, owner of Portuguese insurer Açoreana, now has premiums worth over €680 million.
