He ended with a two stroke lead over Greg Chalmers from Australia with Francois Delamontagne from France a further four strokes back. This moved back into 140th position in the World Rankings.

Gregory Bourdy - (France) UBS Hong Kong Open Hong Kong - Fanling - Hong Kong - 12th to 15th November, 2009 Gregory Bourdy gained his fourth win on the European Tour in Hong Kong. He was two strokes less that Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland with Robert Jan Derksen from Holland one stroke behind. Gregory Bourdy then moved to 149th place in the World Rankings and 31st in the Race to Dubai.

Lee Westwood - (England) Dubai World Championship Jumeirah - Dubai - United Arab Emirates - 19th to 22nd November, 2009 Lee Westwood brought his total wins on the European Tour up to a handsome 23 with this victory in Dubai. He finished a solid six strokes less than his fellow countryman Ross McGowan with Rory McIlroy a further two more strokes behind. He moved to 27th place in the World Rankings and 19th in the Race to Dubai.

Simon Dyson - (England) Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Old Course - St. Andrews - Carnoustie & Kingsbarns - Scotland - 1st to 4th October, 2009 Simon Dyson scored his sixth win on the European Tour with his victory in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland. He ended three comfortable strokes less than Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland and Oliver Wilson from England. Simon Dyson moved to 191st place in the World Rankings and 181st in the Race to Dubai.

Ross McGowan - (England) Madrid Masters Centro Nacional de Golf - Madrid - Spain - 8th to 11th October, 2009 Ross McGowan gained his maiden win on the European Tour in Madrid. He ended a comfortable 5 strokes less than Mikko Ilonen from Finland with Scotlands David Drysdale just a further one stroke more. This placed Ross McGowan in 296th position in the World rankings and 218th place in the Race to Dubai.

Michael Jonzon - (Sweden) Castello Masters Costa Azahar Club de Campo del Mediterraneo - Castellon - Valencia - Spain - 22nd to 25th October, 2009 One stroke was all that was required for Michael Jonzon from Sweden to gain his second victory on the European Tour in Spain. Lying in second place was Martin Kaymer from Germany and just one further stroke behind was Christian Nilsson from Sweden. This then placed Michael Jonzon at 739th position in the World Rankings and 108th in the Race to Dubai.

Ian Poulter - (England) Barclays Singapore Open Sentosa - Sentosa Island - Singapore - 29th to 1st November, 2009 Ian Poulter added to his wins on the European Tour with his victory in the Singapore Open - this brought his total up to 12. Ian Poulter was only one stoke less than Wen-chong Liang from China with both Adam Scott and Scott Hend a further stoke behind. Ian Poulter moved to 31st place in the World Rankings and 23rd in the Race to Dubai.

This win brought Alex Noren total European Tour victories to three. His nearest rivals on the final round were Bradley Dredge from Wales and Ross McGowan from England. He finished with a satisfactory four stroke lead over his nearest rivals Robert Allenby of Australia and Padraig Harrington of Ireland.

Stewart Cink - (USA) The 138th Open Championship Turnberry - Ayrshire - Scotland - 16th to 19th July, 2009 To win the 138th Open Championship, golfer Stewart Cink from America had a playoff against his fellow compatriot and highly respected Tom Watson. Following up only one stroke behind was English golfers Lee Westwood and Chris Wood. This gave Stewart Cink his second win on the European Tour and moved him to 230th place in the World Rankings.

Jeppe Huldahl - (Denmark) The Celtic Manor Wales Open The Celtic Manor - City of Newport - Wales -4th to 7th June, 2009 Denmarks Jeppe Huldahl held off Niclas Fasth and Ignacio Garrido to secure his maiden European Tour title at The Celtic Manor Wales Open. The 26-year-old, who held the joint lead overnight, produced a faultless display on the final day, not dropping a shot in a 67 for a nine-under-par total. With this win, his first top 10 finish on the European Tour. Huldahl climbed 175 places in the World Ranking to Nº 202 and 74th place in the Race to Dubai.

Lucas Glover - (USA) US Open Championship Bethpage State Park - Farmingdale - New York - USA - 18th to 21st June, 2009 Lucas Glover claimed a two-shot victory in a dramatic final day which he and Ricky Barnes had started with a five-shot lead over the field at seven under par as the rain delayed US Open Championship moved into a fifth day at Bethpage Black. At one point the lead was held jointly by Glover, Phil Mickelson and David Duval while Englands Ross Fisher also challenging. Glover clinched his first Major Championship win with a birdie on 16 and pars on the final two holes as his rivals all bogeyed either the 15th or 17th holes or both. Glover moved into the World Top 20 to Nº 18, a jump of 53 places and after starting the year as only Nº 177.

A further four strokes back were Javier Colomo, Lorenzo Gagli, Richard McEvoy and Ake Nilsson.

Nick Dougherty - (England) BMW International Open Golfclub München Eichenried - Munich - Germany - 25th to 28th June, 2009 Nick Dougherty claimed his first European Tour title for two years after a one shot victory over Rafa Echenique at the BMW International Open. The Englishman started the day three shots behind Retief Goosen but his nine birdies and just a solitary bogey secured a sublime eight under round of 64 which completed a 22 under total. Echenique holed his second at the last for his first ever albatross. Dougherty jumped 56 places to Nº 64.

Christian Cevaer - (France) The European Open The London - Ash - Kent - England -28th to 31st June, 2009 Christian Cevaer from France began the week as the World Number 449 and without a Top 30 finish in his last 15 tournaments, but he overcame the star-studded field to win The European Open and jump 320 places to World Nº 129. The 39 year old, whose only previous European Tour victory was the 2004 Open de Espana, beating Englands Steve Webster, Scot Gary Orr and Spaniard Alvaro Quiros by one stroke.

Daniel Vancsik - (Argentina) BMW Italian Open Royal Park I - Roveri - Turin - Italy - 7th to 10th May, 2009 Daniel Vancsik produced a dazzling six under par round of 65 to coast to a six stroke win at the BMW Italian Open. The Argentinean carded eight birdies and two bogeys to finish the week 17 under par - six better than John Daly, Raphael Jacquelin and Robert Rock. The win is the second for the 32 year old Vancsiks on The European Tour, and took him to World Nº 213 with a jump of 207 places.

Shane Lowry - (Ireland) The 3 Irish Open Co Louth - Baltray - Drogheda - Ireland - 14th to 17th May, 2009 Irish Amateur Shane Lowry secured victory at The 3 Irish Open at Co Louth GC, Baltray, in his first ever appearance at a World Ranking Qualifying event as he beat Robert Rock at the third extra hole. A second round of 62 had gave Lowry a two stroke lead after 36 holes and with two final rounds of 71 meant a tie with Rock who also shot a final round of 71. While Shane Lowry could not claim any of the prize money on offer he does have the compensation of qualification for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the WGC-HSBC Champions. Lowry started the week at 16th in the R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking and after this win he became a new entry into the Official World Golf Ranking at 168th.

Paul Casey - (England) BMW PGA Championship Wentworth - Virginia Water - Surrey - England - 21st to 24th May, 2009 Paul Casey won the BMW PGA Championship over the West Course at Wentworth Club by a single stroke from Wentworth Scholarship graduate Ross Fisher with 3 birdies in the final 4 holes. Casey started the week as the player who had won the most total World Ranking Points in 2009 and the win took him to Nº 3. This improvement of 4 places made him the highest ranked Englishman since Nick Faldo in November 1996.

Angel Cabrera - (Argentina) Masters Tournament Augusta National - Augusta - Georgia - USA - 9th to 12th April, 2009 Angel Cabrera won the 2009 Master Tournament, his second Major Championship victory, in a sudden death play-off with Kenny Perry and Chad Campbell, having all tied at 12-under-par at 276. Campbell dropped out when he missed a par putt of around four feet on the first hole of the play-off. Cabrera made a seven-footer to take the play-off to a second hole where he triumphed with a par 4 after Perry missed the green and failed to get up and down. Cabrera moved up 51 places to Nº 18, whilst, Perry moved to Nº 6 and Campbell moved into the Top 50 at Nº 41.

Scott Strange - (Australia) Volvo China Open Beijing CBD International - Beijing - China - 16th to 19th April, 2009 This win in China provided Scott Strange his second victory on the European Tour and moved him to 380th in the World Rankings. He finished with only one stroke advantage over his nearest rival Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano from Spain. Following just one stroke further back was Mark Brown, Richard Finch and Ashley Hall.

Thongchai Jaidee - (Thailand) Ballantines Championship Pinx - Jeju Island - South Korea - 23rd to 26th April, 2009 Thongchai Jaidee won the Ballantines Championship following a play-off after the tournament ended in a three-way tie. Jaidee shot a 2 under par round of 70 to move alongside Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and local player Kang Sung-Hoon on four under overall. This forced an extra hole at the par 4 18th. Jaidee hit a glorious second shot to around four feet from the hole and the birdie was enough to win the event. Jaidee moved up 24 places to World nº 49.

Danny Lee - (New Zealand) Johnnie Walker Classic The Vines - Perth - Australia - 19th to 22nd February, 2009 New Zealand amateur Danny Lee made history by becoming the youngest ever winner of an European Tour tournament with a one stroke victory at the Johnnie Walker Classic at The Vines Resort & Country Club in Perth Australia. The teenager carded a closing five under par 67 to finish on 17 under, one shot ahead of Ross McGowan of England, Hiroyuki Fujita of Japan and Chiles Felipe Aguilar. Danny Lee moved up in the Rankings 403 places to World Nº 159.

Geoff Ogilvy - (Australia) WGC - Accenture Match Play The Gallery - Dove Mountain - Tucson - Arizona - USA - 25th to 1st March, 2009 Geoff Ogilvy won the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play for the second time in four years with a 4 and 3 victory over Paul Casey. Ogilvy, the 2006 champion and 2007 runner-up, displayed his match play prowess in the 36 hole final to pick up a cheque for US$1,400,000 The victory was the Australians third World Golf Championships title, sixth US PGA Tour victory and fourth European Tour win. The win takes Geoff Ogilvy to fourth place in the Rankings, while Paul Casey moved to Nº 13.

Jaidee jumped 17 places in the World Ranking to Nº 71.

Anders Hansen - (Denmark) Joburg Open Royal Johannesburg & Kensington - Johannesburg - South Africa - 6th to 11th January, 2009 Anders Hansen from Denmark birdied the final hole for a one-stroke victory over Andrew McLardy at the Joburg Open played over both courses at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club and Co-Sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and the European Tour. Hansens third European Tour win moved him up to Nº 71, an improvement of 19 places.

Paul Casey - (England) The Abu Dhabi Golf Championship Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates - 15th to 18th January, 2009 Paul Casey secured his second victory in three years at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship from Louis Oosthuizen and Martin Kaymer. South African Oosthuizen had earlier shot a brilliant 64 to post a 20-under-par target which was matched by Martin Kaymer with a superb eagle on the last hole. Paul Casey was able to two-putt from 12 feet at the 72nd hole for his tournament record 21-under-par total and the single stroke win which moved him up 21 places to Nº 21.

It was a close ending with a playoff between him and Gareth Maybin from Northern Ireland. Following on their heels was a trio of great golfers, Ernie Els, Rory McIlroy, and Lee Westwood.
